Marie Guerlain is descended from one of the oldest perfume houses in the world and, inspired by this heritage, has set out on her own exploration of the senses and emotions through her art. She has lived in Switzerland, France, USA and Asia; this international background informs her work and her chosen medium has always, since childhood, been painting.

She looks for the “divine within” and this energy suffuses her work. In a frenetic world, her paintings visit still and sacred spaces.  “My emotions map the subtleties and extremes of my life and the lives of others. In my work, I address euphoria, despair, birth, death and the absolute devastations of life.”

Marie Guerlain had her first solo exhibition in London in 2004. She has studied at Parsons School of Design in New York, as well as Kingston University and Chelsea College of Art in the UK. She currently lives in London with her family and has a studio there.
